Snare Drum
The snare drum is made of curled metal wire, metal cable, plastic cable, or gut cords stretched across the drumhead. It was formerly known as the side drum, as the player would carry it around his waist and played off to the side. The shape of the snare drum is like a cylinder, with skin stretched over its top.
The snare drum has a special sound and it’s commonly used in bands. Its distinct sound is now recognizable in many genres of music.
